Sunday

Not much happened today but I GOT TO HOLD A GOAT!

The BEST DAY

Today was the first weekend in May and the last chance to go skiing. I was lucky enough to be able to borrow stuff from friends and give skiing a go for the first time in 8 years. Turns out I remembered how to do it and had so much fun. After skiing we went off roading, then carried on to a hot spring. The tiny pool was full with some tourists and a huge russian family who looked set for the night. We had a quick dip and went home via a geothermal spa that I have a year pass to. It was much more spacious and relaxing. We drove home into a gorgeous sunset. The perfect end to the BEST day. (The stuff that looks like dead dried fish is dead dried fish drying by the road)

Birthday Road Trip

I was taken away on a surprise weekend for my Birthday. We set off to the West or Iceland and we found ourselves in Bifröst. The hotel was interesting to say the least but the surrounding area was stunning. We hiked around the waterfall, had the SLOWEST dinner known to man and enjoyed a soak in the hot tub. The next day we got up early and headed off to drive around the Snæfellsnes peninsula. It was so nice to see different landscapes and new scenery. We experienced all four seasons in 5 hours but it made for very dramatic and beautiful views.

When Laura Came to Play

My lovely friend Laura came to stay with me for a weekend. We ere so lucky with the weather and every activity we did. We were treated to a private glacier and ice caving tour, Laura got to see the Northern Lights and we saw Whales when we went Whale watching. She had all the luck for a perfect weekend in Reykjavik.

Northern Lights

Ever since February we have been pretty lucky with the Northern Lights here in Reykjavik. Whilst it is always better to get away from the city and away from the artificial lighting, there have been Auroras so strong that we have seen them from our front door right in the centre of town. These pictures were taken by the seafront, just 10 minutes away from downtown Reykjavik, and from the Church in the very centre of town.

Þórsmörk

A few weeks ago we had the chance to visit Þórsmörk (Thorsmork) Which is the valley of the of the thunder god. We had the most perfect weather, a great guide and visited some of the most beautiful places I have ever seen.

Saturday

The weather was nice, so I plugged in my ipod and headed out along the coast to the lighthouse in Seltjarnarnes. I hit peninsula as the sun began to set, and the light was absolutely stunning.
